Having a less-than-desirable smile can affect your self-confidence and even impact your health. There are methods for restoring your smile, and veneers are the most popular. These porcelain covers are designed to give you the flawless-looking smile you’ve always wanted. So, you may be wondering how veneers are applied.
Before you get veneers, you must have a complete examination to determine if you’re a good candidate for the procedure. In most cases, we will take photos and easy 3D scans to create a “wax-up,” which is a model we use to show you what your teeth will look like with the veneers placed on them.
Once you approve of the aesthetics of the wax-up, you’ll make an appointment for the placement of the veneers. On your veneer preparation day, we will gently prepare the teeth for the veneer placement. If necessary, a numbing agent is provided to prevent any discomfort.
Once the teeth are prepped, which may not take long if you choose minimal prep veneers, we apply temporary veneers. The temporary veneers are bonded to your teeth for two weeks so that we can ensure you are happy with the esthetics and function prior to inserting the permanent veneers.
You will return for another visit where we remove the temporary veneers and apply and secure the permanent veneers. Once they are fitted to the teeth, the porcelain veneers are permanent.
Once the veneers are in place, you can enjoy eating the foods you love as usual. In fact, in some situations we can actually improve your bite and chewing with veneers. It’s an excellent solution for many people who want a dazzling smile with minimal preparation.
